The Texas Lottery Commission plans to reopen all its 16 lottery claim centers, on Monday, June 1, 2020. But the claims will be processed by appointments only. Apart from this, the commission has also issued some guidelines to be adopted both by the players and the staff to maintain safety.
The claim centers will function according to the stated method for an undetermined period of time and until further notice. The details on how to schedule an appointment, safety precautions, etc will be announced at a later date.
The Texas Lottery thanked the players for their patience and appreciated them for claiming their prizes through the mail and maintaining the safety of fellow players and employees by not visiting the centers. The Texas Lottery affirmed that it will continue to monitor the situation of coronavirus, to determine the next steps in the process of reopening the claim centers.
The lottery also reminded its players that all winning draw and scratch-off game ticket prizes of up to $5 million may continue to be claimed via mail. All the players should allow 4-6 weeks for the mail-in claims to be processed. The players need to claim their winnings within a period of 180 days from the date of draw, else their winnings will be fortified.
