Thousands of players across the state were celebrating when the popular combination 5-5-5 was drawn by the North Carolina Lottery for Pick 3 on Tuesday evening.

The triple-digit combination rolled up to $4.3 million in winnings for all the players who chose these three digits. According to the lottery, around 10,726 winning tickets matched all three numbers in the evening draw on October 19.

The $4.3 million jackpot beats the $3.6 million prize that the North Carolina players won in July when the game produced the numbers 0-0-0. In that drawing, a total of 9,307 tickets won the jackpot.

In a press release, the lottery said that when "trips" occur they generally produce big wins. It also said this is because the combination of three of the same numbers is some of the most popular combinations played.

All those players who wagered fifty cents and matched all three numbers on Tuesday night won $250, while those who wagered $1 scooped in the $500 prize. The lucky winners have 180 days to claim their prizes.

The Pick 3 drawings take place twice a day at 3:00 pm EST and 11:22 pm EST. Whereas the odds of winning the Pick 3 jackpot are 1 in 1,000. So if you think you might have matched the winning numbers, confirm the North Carolina lottery results here!
