A North Carolina Lottery player became the second person in their hometown to win $1 million, in less than a week. Though both the Thomasville winners did not win on the same game, they won an equal amount of $1 million prizes within less than one week of each other.
Mario Paniagua Garcia of Thomasville picked one lucky "Jumbo Bucks" scratch-off ticket for $10 at the Cross Road Curb Market on Blair Street in Thomasville over a week ago. On Thursday, June 17, he stopped at North Carolina Lottery headquarters in Raleigh to claim his prize, which totaled up to $424,503 after state and federal tax deductions. She was the fourth top prize winner out of the eight available at the game's launch in April. And a week later Thomasville had its second lottery winner of $1 million.
Another man hailing from Thomasville, Rodney Everhart bought his winning ticket at the Eagle Mart on Baptist Children’s Home Road in Thomasville. He picked the ticket for a $30 Eagle Mart on Baptist Children’s Home Road in Thomasville. The retailers for both the winning tickets are within ten minutes drive of each other.
Everhart also got lucky and won the 15th top prize in the game and chose to take the lump sum equal to Garcia's $424,503 after taxes when he visited Lottery headquarters last Monday.
The winner plans on using his prize money on paying off his house and some bills. After fulfilling these obligations, he plans on "doing some things" for his mother, father, and immediate family. So what are you waiting for, who knows Thomasville has a third winner, so gear up players and mark your winning lottery numbers with The Lottery Lab.
