The wait is finally over for the Powerball audience. After almost four months, the California Lottery prize winner of half of the $632.6 million Powerball jackpot drawn in January has finally come forward to claim its share of the grand prize. Orlando Zavala Lozano is one of the two winners who had to split the $632.6 million Powerball jackpot drawn on January 5, 2022. Lozano bought the Powerball ticket from the 7-Eleven on the corner of Wyndham Drive and Valley Hi Drive in Sacramento, certainly not expecting to himself claiming the seventh largest Powerball prize in the history of the game.

The jackpot is also shared by another winner in Wisconsin, owned by a couple who stepped in February to claim their share of the grand lottery prize.

As for the payouts division, Lozando opted for lump-sum rather than receiving the annuitized prize money of $316.3 million. He took home a whopping amount of $225.1 million before federal taxes, as per the California Lottery. Moreover, according to them, he is not the single winner of this drawing. The three-month jackpot cycle has generated an estimated amount of $67.8 million for schools.

According to the California Lottery Director, Alva V. Johnson, "every dollar or more that a player spends in California supports our mission to raise money for public education. Also, more than 23,000 retail stores have partnered with us for selling our games, each of which benefits from bonuses and commissions. So, when a player hits the jackpot, a small prize, or doesn't win any cash at all - it's a win-win situation for the California community."

For selling such a grand-winning ticket alone, the 7-eleven in Sacramento received a whopping $1 million bonus. As grand as the jackpot prize though!

Also the lucky store owner, Harprit Dhillon told the Lottery that the foot traffic has considerably increased along with the sales, ever since the winning ticket has been sold.
