Wisconsin lottery started in 1988. It is the second oldest lottery in the US. Badger 5 joined the Wisconsin lottery on September 21, 1992. Wisconsin lottery generates sufficient funds to support programs that benefit Wisconsin’s public schools.
The Wisconsin Department of Revenue governs the Wisconsin Lottery. The Department is responsible for the collection of taxes as well as valuing property and the wholesale distribution of alcoholic beverages and enforcement of liquor laws. It also administers the state's unclaimed property program and the state lottery. Currently, Peter Barca is serving as the secretary of the Wisconsin Department Of Revenue.
Proceeds from Lottery ticket sales and unclaimed prizes go back to the community for -Property Tax Credits for Eligible Wisconsin taxpayers
