The North Dakota lottery was established in 2004, following a vote of approval of an initiative constitutional amendment in 2002. Measure 2 which amended Article XI of Section 25 of the North Dakota Commission allows the state to join a multi-state lottery for the benefit of the state of North Dakota. 63 percent of the voters supported the measure which resulted in the creation of the lottery. The lottery is responsible for regulating, administering, enforcing, and promoting the state’s lottery. Since its creation, the North Dakota Lottery has produced innumerable winners for games like Mega Millions, Powerball, Lotto America, Lucky For Life, 2by2, and many scratch-Offs, thereby fulfilling the dream of many.

The North Dakota Lottery began in 2004 and is run by the government of North Dakota. North Dakota only offers multi-jurisdictional games, it means that only games offered over several states are played in North Dakota. The Commission is a five-member board appointed by the Governor for three-year staggered terms. Out of each dollar raised in lottery ticket sales, 22 cents go to the state’s General Fund.
