The New Hampshire Lottery originally known as the New Hampshire Sweepstakes, established in 1964, is the third oldest lottery operating in the United States. The Lottery includes games like Mega Millions, Powerball, Tri-State Megabucks, Keno 603, and many more which continuously work towards fulfilling the dreams of many. NH Lottery has noticed a great deal of change over the years. From offering only one type of ticket that cost $3 each to offering a variety of lotto-type games and numerous scratch games. Since the lottery's inception, the sales have gone from $5.7 million in 1964 to almost $332 million in 2018.
It took around six tries over 10 years, but New Hampshire Representative Larry Pickett finally gained enough support for his Sweepstakes bill in 1963 for the measure to pass, and it got signed into law on April 30, 1963. New Hampshire was part of the very first multistate lottery group in the United States, forming the Tri-State Lotto Compact with Maine and Vermont in April 1985. The Lottery satisfies its mission of providing maximum revenues to aid public education by providing secure and entertaining gaming products to its players.
