The New Mexico Lottery was created in 1966 after Governor Gary Johnson signed Senate Bill 853 and legalized the New Mexico Lottery Authority. The lottery is run by the government of Mexico and is governed by the seven-person board of directors committee which looks into the Legislative Financial Committee.
