The Michigan Lottery came into existence with the beginning of the Green Ticket game on November 13, 1972. The first $1 million lottery prize was won by Hermus Millsaps of Taylor, Michigan on February 22, 1973. Daily 3 was introduced with other Terminal based games which commenced on June 6, 1977. Following Daily 3, the Daily 4 lottery was introduced in 1981. On August 13, 1984, the first “Michigan Lotto” was introduced by the lottery. Following them, Mega Millions and Fantasy 5 joined the club in 2002 and 2004 respectively. In 2019, the Michigan Lottery introduced the Double Play draws for both Fantasy 5 and Lotto 47, where-in an extra draw is held after each main game-draw and non-jackpot prizes are doubled.
Poker Lotto, a terminal-based game was introduced by Michigan Lottery on October 19, 2013, and since then has been producing innumerable lottery winners.
The revenue generated from the sale of lottery tickets is transferred to the State General Fund, which is further divided among a variety of programs and initiatives of the State.
Since its establishment, the Michigan Lottery has donated more than $20 billion to the School Aid Fund to back the K-12 education. The lottery also puts in every effort to lift local businesses and support companies that employ the people of Michigan.

Prizes up to $600 can be directly deposited into your bank account. You can also visit the Michigan lottery office to claim lottery prizes up to this amount. Winning amounts of $600 up to and including $99,999.99, should be claimed by mailing the winning ticket with a complete winner claim form, and copies of valid your valid government-issued photo ID and social security card to the Michigan Lottery P.O. Box address. Lottery winnings of $100,000 and more should be claimed by submitting an online claim and visiting Lottery headquarters, Hillsdale to claim your prize. Michigan Lottery prizes can be also claimed through the mail. All the claims sent through the mail should fill out a claim form available on the official website. You need to fill in the back of your winning ticket, complete the Winner Claim Form and mail it to the Michigan Lottery P.O. Box address along with your signed original winning ticket, and copies of your valid government-issued photo ID and social security card. You can claim your lottery prizes within 180 days from the date of the drawing. It is advised that you take your time, assemble a professional team of tax attorneys, finance managers, accountants, etc before claiming your winnings.
