Idaho Lottery is governed by Idaho State and is a member of the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL). Public initiative for lottery approval was first passed in 1986 and was declared unconstitutional by district judge the following March. Later voters approved it and, finally, it was launched on July 19, 1989. Hence, the first sale from the Arizona Lottery was on July 1, 1988. Since its beginning, the Idaho Lottery has sold over $1.8 billion in tickets and transferred over $437.3 million to fund Idaho public schools and buildings. Idaho Cash was launched in February 2017 and has been contributing ever since.
The Idaho Lottery comprises of the Idaho Lottery Staff and is governed by the Lottery Commission. The Governer of the Commission appoints the five-member commission and each member serves for five years. The Commission frames the rules for the agency, approves contracts and monitors all the operations of the Lottery. Executive Director Jeffrey R. Anderson, is currently serving at pleasure as the Governer.
The Director is liable for looking into day to day lottery operations including security, media relations, warehousing and inventory control, marketing, sales, information systems, and fiscal management.
Proceeds from Lottery ticket sales and unclaimed prizes go back to the community for -Schools based on wishlist of individual schools
