Indiana may hold such a high count because it was one of the first participants of the Powerball lottery game along with Wisconsin, Idaho, South Dakota, Montana, Minnesota, Delaware, Kentucky, Kansas, Iowa, Oregon, West Virginia, Rhode Island, Missouri, and Washington D.C., in the year 1992.
Twenty-seven years later, a total of 44 states including Washington D.C., Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico are now proud participants of Powerball lottery game. Let’s have a look at the total number of winners from each different state. Longevity might give states an advantage but there are some states which started late but apparently have more than expected winners.
Arizona joined in the year 1994, two years after the Powerball lottery game was launched. The total number of winners from Arizona is 13.
Idaho joined in the year 1992 and the total number of jackpot winners from Idaho is only 5.
Indiana first participated in the Powerball lottery game in the year 1992 and has 39 winners already which is highest of all.
Minnesota also participated in the year 1992, and the total number of jackpot winners to this date is 22, which is quite impressive.
Missouri also joined with Indiana, in 1992, and the total number of jackpot winners from Missouri is 31. Therefore, Missouri ranks second for the most winners.
New Hampshire first participated in the Powerball lottery game in the year 1995 and the total number of winners from New Hampshire is 10.
North Carolina joined in the year 2006 and just within the time span of 13 years, the big jackpot winners from North Carolina is 4.
Ohio also joined in late 2010 and within the time span of just 9 years, it already has 3 big jackpot winners.
Texas also joined Powerball lottery game in the year 2010 with Ohio and within the time span of 9 years, there are two big wins from Texas.
Virginia also joined later in the year 2010, and holds the record of only one big win till now!
Wisconsin was also one of the first participants of the Powerball lottery game, joining in the year 1992. The total number of jackpot winners from Wisconsin till this date is 28.
